Protective Materials

Product Overview

3M™ Protective Materials, also known by the name Scotchguard™, are fluorocarbon-free oil and water repellants used to treat fabric and leather to provide stain-repellency and waterproofing properties.  When applied to synthetic fabrics and natural fibres, these materials significantly improve stain resistance and soiling performance, improving fabric's durability and extending its lifetime. 

Protective Materials also find use on porous mineral substrates like stone, brickwork and masonry to protect it from unsightly food stains including coffee, red wine, and ketchup, and for surface protection from greases and oils.  

These materials are not based on perfluoroalkyl chemistry including PFOS or PFOA and do not degrade to any perfluoroalkyl substances.  Furthermore these materials are not based on blocked isocyanate chemistry nor do they contain any alkyl phenol ethoxylate (APE) surfactants  or chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) associated with ozone depletion.
