Product Overview

ASCOTRAN® products provide highly effective corrosion inhibition on multiple metal surfaces when used in metalworking fluids, synthetic or semi-synthetic hydrosoluble lubricants, cutting oils, hydraulic fluids, hydrostatic testing, metal machining (degreasing, stripping, polishing, cleansing under pressure), detergents, hydroblasting and in both temporary and long-term protection of metal equipment in contact with aqueous solutions. Grades are available for high performance on particular metal substrates, or for universal efficacy. Highly alkaline environments can be tolerated by certain grades, making them suitable for paint strippers for example.

These products are fully water soluble and safe to use. All products are free of borate, molybdate, silicate and nitrite. ASCOTRAN® products are stable in hard water. There are grades with food contact approvals and that meet PMUC standards. They protect both ferrous and a wide range of non-ferrous metals from corrosion. Flash rusting is prevented on steel surfaces. ASCOTRAN® forms a hydrophobic film on the metal surface which can be easily overcoated. High levels of protection are afforded at low dosage rates and can offer long-term water recycling when used in hydrostatic testing.

Furthermore, they can be applied in a number of different ways when protecting metal parts - during and after drying i.e. storage and transportation. You can dip coat, add to the final degreasing bath or spray apply.

ASCOTRAN® is also used to formulate high-performance, long-lasting, corrosion inhibitors for heat transfer fluids based on glycols, water, salts and alcohols. Used widely in antifreeze, coolants, goethermal, solar panels, industrial freezing (secondary loop refrigeration) and industrial heat exchange systems. Organic salt-based technology, free from 2-ethyl hexanoic acid. This means a safer product with less damage to plastic parts such as gaskets. Avoids the scaling deposits and abrasion issues experienced with silicate and phosphate technology. 

ASCOTRAN® RCX is suitable for use in car coolants, meeting ASTM D3306 and many OEM specifications. Grades are available with high resistance to brine and low temperatures. Excellent performance on a wide range of metal surfaces. Some grades with food contact approval.
