Activated Alumina

A pile of white activated alumina beads

Product Overview

BASF F-200 spherical beads of activated alumina are industry-leading solutions for the drying of liquids and gases. A variety of bead sizes are available to suit different applications. BASF’s unique manufacturing process results in a uniform bead size, which is important in high-pressure gas dehydration to minimize pressure drop.

With high adsorption capacity and relatively easy regeneration, F-200 Activated Alumina can offer our customers an excellent balance between performance and cost.

High crush strength, resistance to amines, low abrasion and a large surface area are further benefits offered by F-200.

Product Features
  • Spherical activated alumina
  • Four different grades with an average bead size of 7x14 Tyler Mesh (2 mm), 1/8" (3.2 mm), 3/16" (4.7 mm), 1/4" (6.4 mm)
  • Preferential adsorption of polar molecules
  • Total pore volume of 0.5 cm3/g for all grades
  • Can either be used in Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) or thermal regeneration driers
Product Benefits
  • High surface area and tailored pore size distribution to give a high adsorptive capacity
  • Dew point of -40°C can be achieved
  • Low abrasion - less dusting during transport, loading and service life. Reduces pressure drop and minimizes downstream plugging of filters and valves
  • Unform ball size - Useful in high-pressure gas dehydration where minimizing pressure drop is crucial
  • High crush strength - Improves lifetime stability of the product
  • Resistant to attack by amines
Typical Applications
  • Industrial air drying
  • Gas and liquid drying
  • Transformer oil drying
  • Lubricant drying
