Product Overview
Aluminium hydroxide is one of the most important mineral flame retardants worldwide. It is environmentally friendly and has a high efficiency as a smoke suppressant. HYDRAFIL® is made from bauxite in accordance with the Bayer process. One of the unique things about these grades from Quarzwerke are the organosilane surface treatments, which allow for higher loadings to be achieved per unit viscosity build - with better mechanical properties.
Aside from the flame retardant behaviour it also has a high degree of whiteness and a low hardness. It is commonly used in cold cure PMMA worktops for its improvement in composite strength, breaking elongation and excellent steam resistance.
