An Introduction into the Fundamentals of Thermoplastics
A brief introduction into the world of thermoplastics and the additives that can be used to adjust and specialise them.
SILATHERM® alumina and zinc oxides grades are used to increase the thermal conductivity of polymers. With these products, the quick and cost-effective manufacturing process of injection moulding can be used to produce polymer parts with good levels of thermal management. Typically these materials are being used in the automotive sector however electronics and consumer items are also increasing their demand for polymers that can conduct heat away from various thermal sources. Crucial to the success of alumina and zinc oxide are applications where thermal conductivity and electrical insulation are needed in combination. Traditional metal-based powders are not able to offer both of these advantages together.
SILATHERM® products come in a range of particle sizes and with optional surface treatments that allow higher filler loadings to be combined with improved mechanical properties (over untreated versions). Get in touch with Lawrence Industries today to discuss your project with one of our technical sales team.
