How can we reduce plastic within cleaning products?
Reducing virgin and single-use plastic is a key concern of many manufacturers, including those making household cleaning products.
Evonik’s™ versatile SIPERNAT® range is used across a wide varierty of industries, in an ever increasing number of applications. These fine, inert precipitates are entirely inorganic and are composed of approximately 99% silicon dioxide (SiO2). SIPERNAT® has long been used to facilitate manufacturing processes and enhance the performance of end products. Its unique physical characteristics mean that it is often unrivalled when it comes to improving properties such as flowability and anticaking in powders. Additionally, SIPERNAT® is used to convert difficult to handle liquids into free flowing powders, this is particularly common in the Agrichemical industry for the production of wettable powders and water dispersible granules.
SIPERNAT® helps to transform liquid or paste feed additives into free flowing powders. Also used to extend storage time through the prevention of caking in hygroscopic materials.
A technical brochure on the use of SIPERNAT® to improve the flow and caking properties of difficult to handle powders. Information is given on how to choose a suitable grade for a given host powder. Methods of mixing are also demonstrated.

Reducing virgin and single-use plastic is a key concern of many manufacturers, including those making household cleaning products.
The hygroscopic nature of powders means they are prone to clumping which can cause handling issues. SIPERNAT® is a range of speciality precipitated silicas from Evonik that provide free-flow to powders in a number of environments.
Foam in industrial applications such as coatings and detergents can impact the quality of the finished product and interfere with manufacturing; Therefore the market for making defoamers that remove this issue is large. This article discusses how defoamers work and what makes a good defoamer as well as how speciality silica can benefit a defoamer formulation.
A summary of the chemistry behind batteries and how EVONIK products can improve separaters and electrolytes for better rechargeable batteries.
A brief overview of the key grades with their Technical Datasheets (TDS) is given below.
