Thermosets are a sub group of polymers that change irreversibly after being subjected to heat or radiation due to a curing process where chemical bonds are formed. They vary from soft polyurethane foams to very hard and tough phenolic resins. Curing polyurethanes sometimes requires a catalyst and for the majority of melamine resins and phenol formaldehyde resins.
