Product Overview

The CIRCOSIL® range from Cirkel are multifunctional calcium silicate hydrate minerals in the tobermorite mineral phase, categorised by platelet-shaped crystals.

They are produced via hydrothermal hardening of burnt lime, silica flour and water in controlled autoclave environments to ensure defined particle sizes and crystalline structures. The strict production conditions allow for high mesoporosity and tight particle size control.

CIRCOSIL® tobermorite gives incredible results as a hardening accelerator, resulting in consistent setting across different temperatures and reducing the temperature and weather dependence of cement hardening.

Product Features
  • Porosity: High intrinsic mesoporosity with average pore radii ~0.014 μm.
  • Water absorption: Excellent capillary water retention and slow release.
  • pH level: Alkaline (pH ~10) → long-term protection against microbial growth.
  • Thermal stability: Stable up to 750 °C, begins sintering at ~1100 °C.
Product Benefits
  • Acts as a hardening accelerator (seed crystal effect).
  • Consistent early strength development under varying temperatures. Reduces temperature dependence of cement hardening.
  • Uniform water release during cement hardening process.
  • Induces thixotropy and reduces sag and separation.
  • Promotes higher pH stability over time due to its buffering effect which inhibits algae & microbial growth.
Typical Applications
  • Tile adhesives, bonding and reinforcing mortars.
  • Lightweight renders and plasters.
  • Self-levelling flooring compounds.
  • Can be combined with CIRCOLIT®-Slurry for exterior masonry coatings.
