Product Overview
Münzing Chemie offer a range of polymeric dispersing agents under the EDAPLAN® name. There are grades which stabilise via electrostatic, steric and electrosteric repulsion. Chemistries are based on acrylic ester, olefin, fatty acid and other higher molecular weight copolymers. There are effective solutions for carbon black, titanium dioxide, transparent iron oxides, laked azos, phthalocyanines, silica, mica, matting agents, “white fillers” (calcium carbonate, talc etc.) and much more. The ranges are geared heavily towards water based formulations but there are solutions for solvent based as well. There are grades that meet food contact at legislative requirements.
Polymeric stabilisers offer reduced grind viscosity and shorter dispersing times. In the final system, they provide high colour strength, gloss and colour shade stability. They will provide improved compatibility with resin systems, resulting in less shock out/rub out. Grades can be chosen to improve water resistance, film hardness and scrub resistance as well.
The exact choice of dispersing agent will depend on the polarity and surface chemistry of the pigment/filler, the medium it is to be dispersed in, solids content, other formulation components and the pigment dispersion method. We can offer practical advice on choosing the right grade for your project so get in touch with us today to discuss.
