Product Overview
Natural graphite consists of pure carbon which is non-toxic and chemically stable. It is mined all over the world and produced in various grades of purity, crystal structure, particle sizes and particle shapes. Through LUHs extensive expertise, the right grades can be selected depending on the application requirements. For example, natural graphite is used as a solid lubricant additive, where its layered structure provides lubrication and release properties. Due to its high temperature resistance it is also used in refractory and foundry applications such as the production of crucibles, casting molds, and blast furnace linings. Natural graphite is also increasingly considered for its conductive properties - both electrical and thermal conductivity- making it suitable for fuel cells, redox-flow batteries, heat exchange systems, and heat management applications required for electric mobility. For example in polymers, thermal conductivity values of > 25 W/mK can be achieved using the right grade of LUH natural graphite. Secondary benefits in polymeric systems include wear reduction (through the lubricating effect) as well as improvement of mechanical properties (reinforcement).
