Geotech Cosmetic Formulations - Electric Moss Chromabase Serum Corrector

A woman with green colour corrector on her skin in the shape of a moon and a circle

A well-designed colour corrector can do more than simply neutralise uneven tone. This formulation from Geotech is created to help even the appearance of the skin before foundation is applied, while also delivering a soft, mattifying finish and a smoother sensory feel on application.

The concept is especially relevant where formulators are looking for cosmetic ingredients that combine optical correction, texture enhancement and a cleaner positioning story. In this example, Geotech’s special effect pigments are used alongside an ingredient from Imderma Laboratories, which helps bring the formulation together with a focus on effect, feel and sustainability-led claims.

Why this formula works

This serum corrector is built around a blend of powders and effect pigments that help blur and balance the complexion. The green-toned correction helps visually reduce the look of redness, while the matte, powder-rich structure supports a more refined finish under base makeup.

For brands developing hybrid beauty ingredients or clean beauty pigments concepts, the formula is a useful demonstration of how special effect pigments can be used not only for colour, but also for soft focus and texture enhancement.

Key ingredients

The formulation highlights three ingredients that are particularly relevant:

  • Geopearl C Crystal Silk Green - The soft green colour effect of this pigment helps counteract visible redness and even out the appearance of skin.
  • Geosoft L08 - The silica particles that make up the Geosoft pigment give the formula a smooth sensory feel while also contributing to the mattifying effect.
  • ImDermalab SoothTea J.X. -COS - A COSMOS-Natural certified ingredient with antimicrobial properties that improves skin feel and supports smooth application.

Together, these ingredients help create a formula that feels modern and commercially relevant: it combines colour correction, a matte finish and a smooth afterfeel, while aligning with current demand for sustainable and microplastic-free cosmetic concepts.

Procedure

1. Disperse phase A under high-shear for at least 15-30 minutes. The powder must be fully dispersed to prepare the gel.
2. Add phase B, disperse the activator for at least 10 minutes to form a gel.
3. Add phase C and stir until melted at 70-75 °C.
4. Grind the pigments, phase D. Check if the pigments are fully dispersed.
5. Add phase E and mix until uniform.
6. Heat phase F in a separate beaker to 70-75 °C. When everything is fully dissolved, add slowly to the oil phase while dispersing at 4.000-5.000 rpm.
7. Start cooling to 30-40 °C. When cooled, add phase G one by one, disperse shortly. 8. Add phase H and continue stirring until cooled to RT.
